Strength Training and Health Programs
Studies have shown that adults who regularly engage in strength training are less likely to experience loss of muscle mass, functional decline and fall-related injuries than those who do not (source: CDC). Due to these health benefits, it is a national health objective for 2010 to increase the proportion of adults who participate in strength training. Hamilton County Public Health is providing the following links to evidenced-based programs that have proven to be safe and effective for adults. These programs are great resources for professionals and consumers. Furthermore, these programs are being recommended by the top national agencies on aging and health (National Council on Aging, Administration on Aging and the CDC), and are currently implemented in communities across the nation.
