KNOW THE FACTS!

Tires

Tires pose a health concern because they often hold water and are the perfect place for mosquitoes to breed.

• Tires must be kept free of water at all times.
• Tires should be stored inside, or covered to prevent the collection of water.
• For a fee, scrap tires can be disposed of at most tire retailers, including Tire Discounters, Goodyear, Firestone, Michel Tires Plus, Bob Sumerel, or taken to Rumpke Sanitary Landfill.

Household Garbage

All properties must be kept in a clean and sanitary condition.

• Garbage must be stored in durable, leak proof containers that are covered with tight fitting lids.
• Garbage must be collected and disposed of at least once a week, or more often if necessary at a licensed disposal facility.
• Garbage CANNOT be burned.

Household Yard Waste

Grass clippings, leaves, brush and garden materials are referred to as yard waste and must be handled properly.

• Contact your garbage collector about how to handle yard waste in your area, or get more information on the Yard Waste and Composting Hotline, 946-7766, or visit Resident Information.
• Yard waste may also be dropped off at sites throughout the county. For the site nearest you, call the Yard Waste and Composting Hotline at 946-7766 or visit Yard Waste Drop-Off Program.
• Yard waste CANNOT be burned for disposal.

Household Hazardous Waste

Antifreeze, gasoline, solvents, motor oil, paints, and other chemicals are considered hazardous. Special precaution must be taken in their disposal.

• Residents are encouraged to dispose of hazardous
  waste separate from regular garbage collection. Latex
  paints can be dried out and disposed or brought to a
  drop off location.
• Contact the Household Hazardous Waste Hotline:
  946-7766, for specific information on the disposal of
  hazardous wastes or the drop-off location nearest
